Cardiovascular Protection Alliance (CPA): Beyond the Numbers is designed to address clinical and research issues important to clinicians involved in the treatment of CV disease in order to improve management and prevention strategies. This educational initiative will support the following objectives:

• Improve identification of patients at high risk for CV disease
• Increase awareness of clinical trial data on outcomes associated with CV risk reduction
• Increase understanding of the vascular biology of hypertension and the involvement of neurohormonal systems in the pathophysiology of hypertension and CV risk
• Identify the multiple mechanisms of targeted renin-angiotensin blockade on CV risk reduction
• Generate consensus regarding the need for intensive therapy to reduce CV outcomes in at-risk populations
